Meet Abrahan Adames Nuñez
Abrahan brings a wealth of experience to Garcia Hitting Academy. His baseball background includes not only playing twelve years in the major leagues but also serving as a coach for A & AA baseball for the past ten years.
His career in baseball began with the Toronto blue jays in 1996 where he spent two year in the Dominican baseball league, then in Toronto he went into their minor league system. From there he came to the US and played rookie ball for Toronto, and then the Pittsburgh Pirates and went to play for St. Louis in the 2005 World Series. He finished out the last few years in the pros as a player for the Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, NY Mets and Arizona DiamondBacks.
After retiring as a player he took two years off and then started coaching in the Dominican summer league and after began coaching with the double AA system for Kansas City Royals.
As a player Abrahan was a shortstop, second baseman and third baseman. His experience has taught him that both hitting and fielding, whether it's softball or baseball, rely on the same fundamentals. You need to have a solid foundation and connect with the ball and maintain a strong physical and mental game.
He takes a simple approach in his coaching philosophy, that is every player is different and has different skills.
“As a coach it’s my job to find ways to get the players to reach their highest level and use every playing strength and improve the areas he or she needs to develop. I find ways to connect and speak with them - I meet the players where they are and help make them the best of every aspect of their game.”
